How to test microphone on windows 10?

Before you begin:

Make sure your microphone is properly connected to your computer. If it’s a headset, double-check that the mute button isn’t on.
Testing your microphone:

  1. Click on the speaker icon in the taskbar (located at the bottom right corner of your screen).
  2. From the pop-up menu, select “Open sound settings”.
  3. In the “Sound settings” window, under “Input” you’ll see the microphone you currently have selected.
  4. Speak into your microphone. As you speak, you should see the blue bar under “Test microphone” move up and down. This indicates that your microphone is picking up sound.
  5. If you don’t see the bar move, click on “Start test” below “Test microphone”. Speak into the microphone again. Windows will record a short clip and analyze it. You’ll see a reading of the highest volume detected.

Additional Tips:

  • If the microphone level is low, you can adjust the microphone volume by clicking on the microphone you’re using under “Input” and then using the slider under “Input volume”.
  • If you’re still having trouble, you can troubleshoot your microphone by clicking on “Troubleshoot” next to “Test microphone” in the “Sound settings” window. This will launch a troubleshooter that can help you identify and fix any problems with your microphone.

By following these steps, you should be able to easily test your microphone in Windows 10.
